Wildfire In Southern Bexar County Affects Three Dozen Structures

Fire crews are battling a wildfire that’s scorched about 50 acres in south Bexar [[ bear ]] County and north Atascosa County.

The Duke Fire started around 1 p.m. on Trumbo Road but spread to Duke Road and other local roads with the help of gusty winds. The blaze affected about 37 structures and resulted in a mandatory evacuation and road closures. As of Tuesday evening, the fire was reported to be about 90 percent contained.

Two Bexar County strike teams had been created to fight the fire, and about 100 firefighters assisted.
