The Secretary of Veterans Affairs is confirming mass layoffs in the department. It was reported Wednesday that the V-A plans to fire 15-percent of its workforce, about 70-thousand employees.

VA Secretary Doug Collins confirmed the news on social media, saying “the federal government does not exist to employ people.” He said he aims to be transparent about the process, but ended his message by warning “We’ll be making major changes, so get used to it.”
