U.S. and Ukrainian officials are preparing to hold peace talks in Saudi Arabia this week. President Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff says representatives of both countries will work to create a framework for an initial ceasefire and a peace agreement with Russia.

This comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is still attempting to repair relations with the U.S. following a heated exchange with President Trump in the Oval Office.

In the fallout of that meeting, Trump halted military assistance to Ukraine and cut off intelligence sharing between the two governments.
