Trial Starts For DWI Accident That Killed 4 In A Golf Cart

Opening statements are today in the trial of a man suspected of a DWI accident that killed a family of four in a golf cart in Galveston in 2022.

Miguel Espinoza is charged with five felonies, including involuntary manslaughter with a vehicle.

The accident killed Felipe Bentancur, Destiny Uvalle, and their two children, ages 14 and four. Jury selection took place on Monday at the Galveston County Courthouse.

A bartender accused of overserving Espinoza at a bar was arrested soon after the accident.
