The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission is giving more than five-million dollars in grants to park projects in Cameron County. The commission recently awarded nearly 31-million in grants to projects around the state.
The Cameron County Parks and Recreation Department received two one-point-five-million-dollar grants for projects at Laguna Madre Nature Center and Laureles Regional Park.
The City of Port Isabel also received one-point-five-million for improvements at Laguna Madre Youth Center. The City of Harlingen also received 750-thousand dollars for a project at the Harlingen Recreation Center.
