THC In Crosshairs

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick wants to shut down smoke shops across the state that sell products containing THC. He called it “poison.” The current law allows for the sale of substances, made out of hemp, which contain just a tiny fraction of THC.

The market has exploded, with thousands of stores peddling gummies, vapes and smokable flowers. But an all-out ban faces opposition from industry advocates, who argue that hemp is allowed under federal law. Shutting down stores, they say, will hurt the economy.
