The Texas Senate will to consider a bill that requires transgender persons to use public bathrooms that align with their biological sex.

Under Senate Bill 240, state and local governments would be directed to prohibit people from using restrooms or locker rooms in public buildings that don’t correspond with the sex listed on their birth certificate.

The bill would apply to government offices, public schools, and public libraries. The bill would also keep biological men out of women’s prisons and women’s family-violence shelters.
