Texas Senate Approves Bill To Increase Homestead Exemption For Seniors

0

A bill passed by the state Senate will give a huge property tax break to senior Texans and those with disabilities if voters give it their approval.

Senate Bill 23 would increase their homestead exemption from 110 thousand dollars to 200 thousand. The Senate passed the bill by a 30-1 vote on Wednesday.

In order for the increased exemption to take effect, Texas voters will need to approve an associated constitutional amendment on the November ballot.
