A Texas Republican is one of two authors of a bill to shut down the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Representatives Chip Roy of Austin and Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia have introduced the bill to codify President Donald Trump’s executive order into law.
The bill would end taxpayer funding to the agency, withhold any grants not yet disbursed, and bring all of USAID’s assets under State Department control. The bill has 14 Republican co-sponsors.
