The medical director of the Texas Medical Board is stepping down, effective immediately. Dr. Robert Bredt’s retirement comes less than two weeks after conservative state lawmakers publicized his employment by a Planned Parenthood lab.
Bredt had worked as medical director for the state board since 2012, as well as at the Planned Parenthood South Texas Laboratory since 2011. His last day on the job for the board was Tuesday. Texas excludes Planned Parenthood from its Medicaid program, and is suing the organization for improperly billing Medicaid.
