Suspect Who Jumped From Causeway Bridge Given $35K Bond

A man who jumped from the Queen Isabella Causeway to allegedly avoid arrest is now facing charges. Jose Roberto Botello appeared in court in South Padre Island yesterday.

Investigators say he jumped off the causeway on Monday after police officers tried to make a traffic stop. Botello reportedly has active warrants in Hidalgo County for robbery, deadly conduct and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He’s been charged with evading arrest and failure to identify and has been given a 35-thousand-dollar bond.
