The mayor of a South Texas city says she doesn’t know how a small amount of marijuana wound up in her home. Sullivan City Mayor Alma Salinas called police in November after finding a plastic bag with about an eighth of an ounce of marijuana in a guest bedroom.
The report prompted an investigation that led to charges of possessing drug paraphernalia against Salinas and her husband. Those charges were eventually dismissed.
Salinas tells KVEO-TV that she believes she did the right thing by contacting the police but wonders if someone might have been trying to frame her or her husband.
