SpaceX is on the receiving end of the fifth Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund grant. Governor Greg Abbott announced on Wednesday that the 17-million-dollar grant will support semiconductor R&D.
The funds will provide for an expansion of a Bastrop facility that produces Starlink kits and their components. Starlink is a subsidiary of SpaceX that provides high-speed satellite Internet service.
Abbott’s office says the expansion should generate more than 280-million-dollars in capital investment and create at least 400 jobs.
