Two South Texas congressmen have voted in favor of a ban on federal funding to schools that allow transgender participation in girl’s sports.
Democratic Representatives Henry Cuellar and Vicente Gonzalez voted for the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act Tuesday. They were the only Democrats in the House who voted for the bill. Gonzalez released a statement after the vote saying boys should not be allowed to play girl’s sports.
The bill now moves on to the Senate.
