By Texas no longer tops U-Haul’s annual list of most popular states to move to. After being number one for the past three years, Texas dropped to number two in 2024.
The top destination of people renting from U-Haul for a one-way trip is now South Carolina. It’s the first time in U-Haul’s ranking history that the Palmetto State has topped the list. After Texas, the top five are rounded out by North Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee, all red states in the South.
