(Washington, DC) — The Senate is confirming Pam Bondi as attorney general, giving her control of the Department of Justice. Bondi is a former attorney for President Trump, and has called for the prosecution of those involved in investigating Trump’s felonies. Tuesday’s vote was 54-to-46, with Democratic Senator John Fetterman joining Republicans to vote in her favor. In her confirmation hearing, Bondi refused to answer a number of questions about potentially investigating Trump if he was accused of doing something illegal. She also refused to acknowledge that Trump lost the 2020 election, and wouldn’t answer whether she would investigate special counsel Jack Smith.
