Proposed Legislation Would Regulate AI

0

Legislation has been filed in the State House that would regulate the use of artificial intelligence in Texas. The proposal is from Republican Representative Giovanni Capriglione of Southlake.

Under the “Texas Responsible Artificial Intelligence Governance Act,” a comprehensive framework would be established for the ethical development, deployment and oversight of AI technologies in the state.

Among the provisions is a requirement that companies disclose AI use, establish stronger safeguards for personal data and information, and establish guidelines to prevent bias, discrimination and misuse of the technology. The measure also calls for promotion of education and training for an AI-driven economy.
