Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing the Environmental Protection Agency to block the implementation of a methane emissions tax. Paxton filed suit on Thursday, joined by a 22-state coalition.

The EPA rule imposes a penalty for excess methane emissions from certain oil and gas facilities. The lawsuit claims the tax is unlawful and exceeds the EPA’s authority. Paxton issued a press release that said the lawsuit is his latest attempt to stop the Biden administration’s attempts to undermine the law.
