The National Weather Service is warning of high fire danger in South Texas. The Brownsville office has issued a fire danger statement that will be in effect from 1 to 8 p.m.

Forecasters say dry air, critically dry fuels, strong winds and lower humidity will make it possible for any wildfire to quickly spread. The weather service says outdoor burning should be avoided during the afternoon and evening.
