By The long-awaited new courthouse in Hidalgo County is officially open. Construction on the seven-story court complex began in 2018 and the doors were supposed to open in 2021. Construction issues delayed the project for several years. Visitors seemed impressed with the new courthouse yesterday, commenting on amenities like monitors directing people to different courtrooms and offices. The old courthouse will be demolished to create more parking for the new building.
