Hidalgo County is getting closer to opening its long-awaited new courthouse. County commissioners were told Tuesday that the courthouse has reached “substantial completion.”
There are still some elements of construction that still need to be finished, such as repairs to the roof and exterior discovered during an inspection in 2023. But declaring the building substantially complete means the county can begin the transition of services from the old courthouse. An opening date for the new courthouse is still pending.
