Court documents have revealed more details about the weekend arrest of an Edinburg high school principal. Jesus Ramon Mata was charged with harassment after turning himself in to authorities on Sunday.
An affidavit connected to the investigation says Mata used a burner phone to send obscene and embarrassing messages to another Edinburg school district employee in a group chat.
The Johnny Economedes High School principal reportedly admitted owning the burner phone but told investigators he did not send any offensive messages. The Edinburg ISD school board will hold a special meeting tomorrow to discuss Mata’s arrest.
