Members of the Texas National Guard have begun arriving in the Rio Grande Valley on orders for Governor Greg Abbott.
The governor announced Monday that he was deploying troops from Forth Worth and Houston to assist the Border Patrol in South Texas. About 400 members of the National Guard have been ordered to the area along with equipment like cargo transport planes and military helicopters.
Some of those soldiers arrived at the McAllen International Airport Monday evening and were loaded onto buses accompanied by members of the Border Patrol.
