The measles outbreak in West Texas is now up to nearly 600-confirmed cases. And doctors say that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Dr. Ron Cook at Texas Tech says they estimated that there are thousands of measles cases circulating.
The outbreak is putting a strain on rural health systems. The head of Lubbock Public Health says, before these cases, they had not seen the virus in two decades.
In neighboring New Mexico, there are more than 60-cases, linked to this same outbreak. Others are in Oklahoma and Kansas.
