A Mission-area man is to be arraigned on a charge of murder Monday in the shooting death of his uncle in a dispute over who owned several roosters.

21-year-old Aaron Cervantes is under a murder indictment, accused of killing 54-year-old Fernando Madrid at Madrid’s rural residence north of Palmview.

Hidalgo County sheriff’s deputies had been called to the home early the morning of May 30th after Cervantes tried to take possession of some roosters. His uncle tried to stop him and authorities say Cervantes pulled a handgun and shot him.
