The City of McAllen is waiving building permit requirements for home repairs due to the recent flooding for 90 days. City officials say action will give homeowners extra time to file insurance claims and begin repairs.

Officials say general home repairs will not require a permit. Electrical and plumbing repairs do require a permit and a licensed contractor must be hired.
