A man is facing federal charges after an attempt to smuggle spider monkeys across the border in South Texas. U.S. Customs and Border Protection says three infant spider monkeys were found in a vehicle trying to cross the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge on Sunday.

Eric Giovanni Garcia was arrested and charged with smuggling wildlife without an import license. He reportedly told investigators that he was being paid 400 dollars for each monkey he successfully smuggled into the United States.
