Texas republicans want to protect teachers from facing discipline over what they say in the classroom.
A bill filed by State Senator Bryan Hughes would shoot down lawsuits brought by transgender students, upset that they’re being mis-identified.
The bill faces opposition from several civil rights groups, which testified at a hearing this week. They fear it will lead to bullying in the classroom.
