A McAllen man will spend decades in prison for a crash that killed a Cameron County deputy constable. Forty-seven-year-old Jesse Leatherwood was found guilty of intoxication manslaughter last week.

The jury returned to court yesterday and sentenced Leatherwood to 35 years in prison. Investigators said Leatherwood was looking at his phone just before he crashed into Ruben Garcia’s vehicle last September.
