Mayor John Whitmire and other city officials are telling Houston residents to keep off the roads until the winter storm blows over.

In a Monday evening news conference, Whitmire provided updates on what we can expect and what to do about it. Fire Chief Thomas Muñoz warned about the danger of house fires caused by space heaters and the risks of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Police Chief J. Noe Diaz advised residents to keep an eye out for people who may need help. Warming centers are open across Houston for folks who need them.
