The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect who escaped arrest following a standoff in Mission.
Deputies were called to the seven-thousand block of Mile Five Road Wednesday afternoon to investigate a domestic dispute. They were told the suspect had an active felony warrant for criminal mischief and a protective order filed against him. Forty-three-year-old Edward Vargas refused to open the door for deputies and was allegedly armed with a knife.
Vargas was not inside when deputies finally entered the home. A woman was arrested at the scene for interfering with public duties.
