A couple of Republican state senators are threatening not to increase state funding for public universities suspected of non-compliance with a state law banning D-E-I on Texas campuses.

State Senators Paul Bettencourt of Houston and Brandon Creighton of Conroe announced last week that they’d found several schools violating the law by renaming their D-E-I offices. They didn’t name which ones.

Bettencourt and Creighton serve on committees that are drafting the state’s budget and higher education policies.
