The former mayor of Progreso is headed to federal prison after pleading guilty to taking part in a drug conspiracy.
Arturo Aleman was sentenced to 33 months in prison in U.S. District Court Tuesday.
Aleman admitted to federal investigators that he provided money to buy tractor-trailers used to traffic cocaine from the Rio Grande Valley to other parts of the U.S. He was also ordered to pay a ten-thousand-dollar fine.
