A federal judge is striking down part of a Texas law providing new voting restrictions for being unconstitutionally vague and restricting free speech.
Saturday’s ruling shuts down the state’s ability to investigate suspected cases of vote harvesting, such as Attorney General Ken Paxton’s probe of the League of United Latin American Citizens.
Under the law, a person committed a felony by providing or offering vote harvesting services in exchange for compensation. The judge’s ruling noted that there was confusion about how to implement the law.
