The Edcouch City Council has fired the city manager.
During a special meeting Tuesday, the four aldermen present voted to terminate Victor Hugo De La Cruz – the action coming almost two weeks after federal agents arrested him on public corruption charges.
De La Cruz, along with the city’s mayor pro-tem Rene Flores, are charged in a bribery and kickback scheme involving the Brownsville marketing firm Pink Ape Media.
The council has taken no action against Flores, who remains on the council but who was not at Tuesday’s special meeting.
