The Pentagon is sending roughly three-thousand combat troops to the Texas border with Mexico. It’s a move, they say, is to clamp down on illegal immigration.
The DOD says, in a statement, that the mission is “to seal the border and protect the territorial integrity of the United States.”
The troops come with Strykers, which are described as medium-armored wheeled personnel carriers. There are currently more than nine-thousand troops guarding the southern border.
