New charges are pending against a Harris County Jail inmate after a loaded handgun was found hidden inside his wheelchair on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip, detention officers at the Baker Street jail found the gun inside the cushion of a wheelchair being used by Tyrone Kennedy. Kennedy has been locked up for just over a month, following the revocation of his felony parole.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says an internal investigation will review relevant policies and procedures to see how the gun was overlooked.
