Senator Ted Cruz is among those who didn’t support his fellow Texan Senator John Cornyn’s bid to become the Senate majority leader.

Republican senators held the vote on Wednesday and named Senator John Thune of South Dakota to the post. Cruz’s vote went to Senator Rick Scott of Florida, who was backed by several prominent allies of President-elect Donald Trump, though without a formal Trump endorsement.

Thune will replace Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, who will serve out the final two years of his Senate term.
