Cruz, Cornyn Urge SCOTUS To Take Activist’s Case Against TX Ethics Committee

0

Both US Senators from Texas are asking the US Supreme Court to take up a conservative activist’s case against the Texas Ethics Commission.

Republicans John Cornyn and Ted Cruz filed a friend-of-the-court brief on Friday. Michael Quinn Sullivan filed suit ten years ago against the Texas ethics watchdog, which fined him ten thousand dollars in 2014.

The commission stated that Sullivan had failed to register as a lobbyist as he worked to influence GOP legislators’ votes. Cornyn and Cruz want the high court to consider whether Texas laws requiring lobbyist registration and fees are constitutional.
