Court documents are providing more insight into the arrest of a Sullivan City council member last week. The documents indicate that the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Councilman Ruben Villalon last August after getting a tip about drug sales.
A confidential informant was later given money and allegedly purchased drugs at a tire shop owned by Villalon. The councilman was arrested Friday and charged with the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.
The sheriff’s office says over five grams of cocaine was found during a search of Villalon’s home and business.
