Texas lawmakers are praising a new agreement to send more water to communities along the southern border.
The USDA and the State Department brokered the agreement, which will see Mexico release water into six tributaries of the Rio Grande River. The agreement includes an immediate release of water into the Amistad Dam reservoir, followed by monthly releases into the Amistad and Falcon dam reservoirs.
Senator John Cornyn and Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz praised Trump Administration officials for getting Mexico to live up to its obligations under a 1944 water treaty.
