A jail employee in Cameron County has lost his job after allegedly starting a fight with an inmate. The county sheriff’s office announced the arrest of Bryan Ybarra on Friday.
Investigators say Ybarra started the Tuesday fight, using offensive language and then squaring off with an inmate. He was reportedly injured but lied about those injuries in a written report to jail officials. He faces charges of official oppression, making a false statement and tampering with a government record.
