Border Patrol agents are being thanked by their boss for rescuing four children from the Rio Grande River.
Rio Grande Valley Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez praised the agents last week on social media. She said the agents from Fort Brown Station in Brownsville saw the children floating in a raft in the river and pulled them to safety. Chavez says the children were unaccompanied minors who were abandoned by a human smuggler.
Chavez went on to say that over 25-thousand unaccompanied minors were found in the Rio Grande Valley Sector during fiscal year 2024.
