A judge has set bond for a former Edcouch police chief accused of stalking, threatening, and assaulting his estranged wife. CBS 4 News reports 430th District Court Judge Israel Ramon Wednesday set a $50,000 bond for Roel Guerra Jr., despite Guerra violating a court order to stay away from his wife and also threatening to kill her.

Guerra was arrested September 20th and booked on several charges including assaulting a family member, violating a protective order, stalking, and driving while intoxicated. He’d been jailed without bond until his court appearance Wednesday.

Guerra was the police chief of Edcouch from December 2020 to December 2021. He was fired after being accused of assaulting his wife in 2021
