One of the biggest mysteries of the Alamo has been solved. The exact quarry that sourced the limestone building blocks has been discovered. The clues came when the San Antonio Zoo started construction of a new gorilla habitat.
Crews found large amounts of limestone, which were tested. It matched the material found at both the Alamo shrine and other historic structures in San Antonio.
