Governor Greg Abbott is apparently in a position to have most or all of his priorities passed in this year’s session of the Texas Legislature.

In last year’s elections, Abbott supported primary challengers to fellow Republicans who opposed his school voucher bill, successfully replacing some of them. In Sunday’s State of the State address, the governor laid out priorities favored by all of the state GOP’s various factions.

For fiscal conservatives, it was property tax cuts and vocational training. For social conservatives, it was school vouchers and a continued smackdown of D-E-I programs.
