Texas will soon have its own version of the federal Department of Government Efficiency.
Governor Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 14 into law on Wednesday, creating the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office. The so-called DOGE bill is the first one of the 2025 legislative session to be enacted. The new agency will be authorized to reduce red tape for business and streamline state bureaucracies.
During the signing, Abbott was flanked by House Speaker Dustin Burrows and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, the president of the state Senate.
