By Governor Greg Abbott is letting Texas lawmakers know he wants to end diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in the state’s K-12 public schools.
In an X post last Thursday, Abbott said taxpayer-funded schools should focus on “education, not indoctrination.”
The state Legislature banned DEI efforts at Texas colleges and universities in the 2023 legislative session. Lawmakers start the second week of the current session today.
