The Lower Rio Grande is being listed among the most endangered rivers in America. The nonprofit group American Rivers listed the waterway at number five in a ranking released last week.
The group says the part of the river between Del Rio and Brownsville has been depleted by drought, heat and unsustainable water use.
The report calls for the United States, Mexico and regional stakeholders to work together to improve the flow of water in the Lower Rio Grande.
