The Texas man who shot up an El Paso Walmart, killing nearly two-dozen people, has agreed to a plea deal that includes a life sentence in state prison.

District Attorney James Montoya says the decision to not seek the death penalty was made after consulting with the victim’s families. There is the chance that Patrick Crusius may be moved from a federal supermax prison, where he’s serving 90-consecutive life sentences. But that brings up questions about his safety.

The 26-year old’s manifesto was filled with conspiracy theories, including one suggesting that there is an “Hispanic invasion” of Texas.
